Editorial: ‘Never Forget’

The reminders went up on social media this week of yesterday’s 18th anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11, with many posts accompanied by pictures of the smoldering wreckage of New York’s Twin Towers.

“Never forget.”

Americans who lived through those days will never forget. They will never forget the feeling of heartbreak of the tremendous loss of life and the anger over the evil terrorist attack on our own shores. Neither will they forget the coming together of this nation; for a brief moment, political and regional divides no longer separated us. We were all simply … Americans. The international community joined us in our grief and pledged their support.
