Editorial: Let the fun begin

After the very long and really cold winter, and given all the real worries in our nation now, we are all overdue for some fun. We can start that fun on Saturday and Sunday at the Gloucester Daffodil Festival. Thousands of people are expected to enjoy the fresh air and to celebrate the daffodil, for many years a symbol of our county and a way that our ancestors once found a way to corner the fresh flower market and to provide meaningful income to many local families. And when that bright yellow glorious celebration is done, there are many, many other local attractions to anticipate during the year. A top, one-time, year-long celebration of America’s 250th year is underway. The excitement will build leading up to and beyond July 4. And in Gloucester, a celebration of the county’s 375th anniversary is also being planned.
