Editorial: Let it roar

After a miserably wet and cold first part of March, today is the first full day of spring and the forecast is for more cold and wet weather, even a chance of snow. It can’t last much longer.

This week’s paper includes the annual spring section with information and advertisements on fixing up everything around the house and yard. There is something about warmer days that gets people moving, whether to cut the grass and wild onions that have finally appeared, to paint the eaves, to plant the potatoes, or to begin some major improvements.

Paint brushes, trowels, tillers, ladders and other tools go outdoors too, and go to work. One friend has termed the beginning of spring the season of "Man with Chainsaw" characterized by a throaty roar that announces itself to all the neighbors. Whatever your tool may be, get it out from the shed and let spring roar.
