Editorial: Know your legislators

The Virginia General Assembly goes into session next Wednesday, Jan. 8, and while the representation from Gloucester and Mathews counties remains the same, the session itself will be far different from those of the past two decades.

Democrats took control of both the Senate and the House of Delegates in November’s election. We expect to see some exciting debates as they put forward their agenda for the next two years.

It’s very likely that you will want to weigh in on pending legislation. Here we tell you how to get in touch.

Sen. Thomas K. Norment Jr., a Republican and member since 1992. For the past several sessions, Norment has served as majority leader of the Senate, but will take on the role of leading member of the minority.
