Editorial: Know your legislators

The Virginia General Assembly is well into its “short session,” with members considering piles of legislation including issues that can affect all Virginians, or just small groups.

A good place to find out about the status of bills and how the members voted is the excellent website, virginiageneralassembly.gov.

This site will give you information about individual delegates and senators. To make it easy for you, here is contact information for the three men who represent Gloucester and Mathews in Richmond.

Sen. Thomas K. Norment Jr., a Republican, is majority leader in that body. He represents District 3, which includes all of Gloucester, New Kent, King and Queen and King William counties along with Poquoson City, and parts of Isle of Wight, James City, Surry and York counties, and Hampton and Suffolk cities. He is a lawyer.
