The Virginia General Assembly’s new session begins at noon next Wednesday, Jan. 13. While every seat in the House of Delegates and Senate was up for election in November, very few changes took place and the incumbent representatives from Gloucester and Mathews counties remain in office.

As the session progresses, it is likely that one issue or another will grab local attention. Here is our chance to be heard: Let our legislators know your opinions before the crucial votes are taken.

Sen. Thomas K. Norment Jr. of Williamsburg represents the Third Senatorial District, which includes Gloucester County. A Republican and senator since 1992, Norment has risen to the top of the Senatorial tree and is majority leader and co-chair of the Finance Committee.
