Editorial: Elections are here

Hard as it may be to believe, the 2021 elections are already here, with early voting starting tomorrow across Virginia.

We’re still officially in the last week of summer, after all, and more importantly, candidate forums/debates have yet to be held where voters can gauge the hopefuls and weigh them against one another.

While some may have already made up their minds about who they are voting for, others may not even know who is on this year’s ballot.

In statewide races, Virginia’s top three jobs are up for election—governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general. For governor, Democrat Terry R. McAuliffe (https://terrymcauliffe.com) is opposed by Republican Glenn A. Youngkin (www.youngkinforgovernor.com). There is also a third-party candidate for the position on this year’s ballot, Liberation Party candidate Princess Blanding (www.princessblanding.com).
