Editorial: Clear proof

See it here: the amazing, cleansing power of oysters.

The photograph with this article shows two small tanks of York River water. Philip Page filled them about 11 a.m. Sunday, just before the annual barbecue fundraiser held at Rosewell. He put four filter-feeding oysters in one tank, and left the other  tank oysterless.

Three hours later, as you can see, the water in the oyster-holding tank is crystal clear and the water in the other is murky, as so many local waters are.

A picture is worth 1,000 words. Support restoration of Chesapeake Bay oysters, not only for the good of your table and for the livelihood of watermen, but also for the bay itself. ...
