The Mathews High School Blue Devils stand on the top rung of the state’s basketball ladder, scheduled to compete in the title game tonight in Richmond.

To attain these heights the Blue Devils proved that they possess, in addition to skill, an ample supply of tenacity and heart. They came from behind to win in both games at the state tournament, so far.

So far as we can tell, this is a historic achievement for MHS, the best showing ever by the boys’ basketball team through generations of play. Courtside or following from far away, we are all with them as they go for the title tonight.
