Editorial: A much-needed respite

If all the myriad Facebook posts circulating the last few weeks are to be believed—and there’s no reason not to—nearly everyone will be glad to say good riddance to this year’s exceptionally bitter winter. And for those who still cling to wistful wishes for snow, they should probably keep their desires under wraps for at least another nine months or so, lest they receive a deluge of nasty comments in response.

What better way to put winter in the rear view mirror than by attending the Gloucester Daffodil Festival? Next weekend’s event is a celebration of everything spring: from the beautiful yellow flowers that give the festival its name and the crowning of a young lady to be this year’s queen to the brightly colored floats in the parade and a chance to stroll up and down Main Street.
