Editorial: A godsend

There are many things we can do without. A trip to the beach. A new car. Dinner at a nice restaurant. There are plenty of ways we can limp along in order to make ends meet.

But there’s one thing we can’t neglect, no matter how rich or poor we are—our health. Unfortunately, for far too many people, that’s precisely what happens. We put off that trip to the doctor or the dentist simply because we can’t afford it. Even with the recent expansion of Medicaid in Virginia, there are many still unable to get medical care without a helping hand. We do our best to ignore the pain and hope it’ll just go away.

Enter Remote Area Medical.

This godsend will be coming to Gloucester’s Ware Academy on Nov. 3-4 to provide free high-quality medical, dental and vision care to the underserved and uninsured in our community.
