Editorial: A bit of Bah, Humbug

A Scrooge is never welcome at Christmastime, and we admit to finding ourselves a bit Ebenezer-like with a complaint about our perennially generous governors.

So we will keep it brief.

Take three legal holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day) each falling on Thursday this year, multiply them by the governor’s proclamations, and this year, state and local workers end up with 7½ days off.

Gov. McAuliffe is just following in the footsteps of his predecessors.

Lovely for the employees. Hard on anyone wishing to do public business. It’s a trend that shows no sign of ending.
