EDITH LEURENNA JOHNSON FAULKNER

Edith Leurenna Johnson Faulkner, 95, of Deltaville, passed away Feb. 28, 2018.

Edith was born Dec. 23, 1922 to the late James Albert Johnson and Naomi Harrow Johnson. She was married to Robert H. Faulkner for 69 years until he passed in 2012.

She is survived by her children, Robert A. Faulkner and his wife Diane, Robin Faulkner Schmitt and her husband Tom; a sister, Mary Ruth Selby, and a dear friend and cousin, Barbara Thompson. She has four grandchildren, Amy Faulkner-Hart (Jonathan), Mark Faulkner (Lauren), Brittany Hawn and Lance Hawn-Schmitt; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Oran Johnson.

Edith loved fiercely. She loved her church, backyard bird watching, singing in the choir, arranging flowers and her community, but most of all, she loved her family. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother, a dutiful daughter and a doting nana. She was stubborn but kind, demanding but generous and her family and friends loved and respected her for all of it. She will be missed immensely by all of those who knew her.

Funeral services were held at Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville on Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m. Visitation preceded the service at the church at 1 p.m. Burial immediately followed in the church cemetery. Friends and family were invited to stay afterwards for a small reception in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

Donations in memory of Edith can be made to Zoar Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1010, Deltaville, Va. 23043; Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 23, Hardyville, Va. 23070 or Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 440, Deltaville, Va. 23043.
