A well-known Hampton optometrist has opened at White Marsh next to Sunrise Donuts and Greens Optical. EdgeWater EyeCare, LLC, with Dr. Richard Nicholas officially opened its second location last Thursday with a ribbon cutting and refreshments.

Office manager Misty Emmons said EdgeWater is known for its thorough and efficient practices. “We can see twice as many patients as most practices and still run on time,” Emmons said, and still provide quality patient care.

EdgeWater EyeCare, which has been located in Peninsula Town Center since 2012, can help diagnose, treat and detect subtle changes in one’s vision year after year, she added.

The business accepts most insurance plans, including EyeMed, Anthem, Davis Vision, Optima, Superior Vision and also offers eye exams for $75 for those without insurance. She said discounts are provided for military, senior citizens, first responders and teachers.

EdgeWater is independent from Greens Optical next door, but there is an entryway leading between the two businesses for easy access.

EdgeWater also offers walk-in exams, same-day exams and Clarifye, a digital eye exam that gives a more in-depth picture of eye health. 

Currently, the Gloucester location is open Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. However, as business grows, the hours are subject to change, Emmons said.
