Earth Day 2022: 52 years old now, and the earth’s future takes a look below

Earth Day 2022 will be observed tomorrow. The annual event is held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org (formerly Earth Day Network) including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. Here, students in Kathy Autrey’s first grade class at Abingdon Elementary School created drawings in honor of Earth Day. The students whose work is shown here are, top row from left, Alaina Boykin, Cayden Ward, Azaer Fernandez; middle row, Emori Holmes-Whiting, Eliana Rosas-Duke; bottom row Grant Van Meter and Neueya Green.
