Earth Day

Local children responded enthusiastically to a Gazette-Journal request that they submit letters and images to illustrate how they felt about Earth Day. Their submissions were thoughtful, colorful, and artistic. Enjoy these selected thoughts and the accompanying drawings.

Think for the Greater Good

We all live on a rock we call earth.
We only take and never give
You never know how special something is until it’s… gone.
Like the waves slowly and peacefully washing the sea shore.
Or the cool summer grass in between your toes.
No one appreciates the little things
They are only thinking about money.
Yeah… money…
That thing, the green piece of paper we give so much value.
Money is killing our world.
Not the world with stock markets and factories sending out toxic fumes.
No
Money is killing the world with dewdrops on tulips and icicles on tree branches.
None of these amazing things will be here if we keep killing for happiness and artificial wealth....
