Early voting starts Friday

Registrar offices in Gloucester and Mathews counties are busy preparing for the Nov. 2 election, as early voting begins Friday across Virginia.

On the statewide ticket, candidates for governor include Republican Glenn A. Youngkin, Democrat Terry R. McAuliffe and Liberation Party candidate Princess L. Blanding. Republican Winsome E. Sears and Democrat Hala S. Ayala are the lieutenant governor hopefuls. Attorney general candidates are Republican Jason S. Miyares and incumbent Democrat Mark R. Herring. Republican incumbent M. Keith Hodges and Democrat E.B. “Ella” Webster are running for the 98th House of Delegates seat.


In Gloucester, there are several seats on the board of supervisors up for grabs.

Teresa L. Altemus and incumbent Kevin M. Smith are running for the at-large seat for the BOS. Incumbent Michael R. Winebarger and Ken W. Gibson are running for the Petsworth seat and incumbent Phillip N. Bazzani is running unopposed for the York District seat.
