Dukes volleyball looks to serve up wins in 2018

 

Gloucester High School volleyball coaches Sean McNash and Joshua Nichols are looking for wins and growth inside the painted lines from their teams this year.

McNash, who is in his first year as a high school coach, is leading a girls’ team that has already shown that they have what it takes to win in dramatic fashion.

When playing Rappahannock on Aug. 20, the Lady Dukes found themselves down, 2-0.

“We struggled early, which led to us losing the first two sets of the best-of-five games,” said head coach Sean McNash. By the third set, Gloucester had righted the ship, with passing and hitting dramatically improving.

“We also served very well,” said McNash. “It was an emotional, resilient victory that required our ladies to compete for each point in order to pull off the comeback.”

The team returns most of their starters this year, including seniors Samantha Leber, Ashley Sandahl and Victoria Walker.
