Dukes shut out Phoebus, 14-0

The Gloucester High School varsity baseball Dukes stand at 4-2 after two wins and two losses in recent action.

The Dukes dominated Phoebus, 14-0, on Tuesday as senior Jason Wood threw a no-hitter for his first win of the season. Wood had 12 strikeouts and went 2-3 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs. 

Grayson Womble and A.J. Hall also went 2-3, with Womble knocking in three runs. Hall had two RBIs and scored a pair of runs. Trey Fortner contributed a 2-2 performance with two RBIs. 

Gloucester lost a 13-5 game at Glen Allen on Monday after getting an 8-5 win at Hampton on Friday. Six runs in the sixth inning gave the Dukes the win over the Crabbers and junior Cody Shiflett got the victory on the mound. Cash Watkins went 2-2 for Gloucester with two RBIs and Brody Carter had a hit for two RBIs. 

The Dukes lost a 13-9 contest with Kecoughtan on March 22, with the loss going to sophomore pitcher Matthew Hudgins. Fortner was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Carter Miller was 3...
