Dukes open 2015 season against Kecoughtan

Gloucester High School opens the 2015 football season at Kecoughtan at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Aug. 27, at Darling Stadium in Hampton.

A VHSL Benefit Game scheduled with Mathews for tonight at GHS was cancelled last week. GHS Athletic Director Kristy Hunter said injuries were impacting the Blue Devils’ roster, resulting in the cancellation.

The Dukes were able to schedule a scrimmage in place of the Mathews game and will play at Warhill High School in Williamsburg at 6 o’clock tonight. Warhill will also be hosting Parkview, and Gloucester will play two quarters against both teams.

Gloucester head coach Brandon Kelley said his first scrimmage of the season with Kempsville last Thursday was a good opportunity to see some things work well and other things the team needs to work on.
