Dukes fall to Warwick, 42-12

Not much went the Dukes’ way on Saturday against Warwick, as the surprising Raiders continued their winning ways and defeated the Gloucester High varsity football team, 42-12.

The game began relatively evenly, as Gloucester was setting up for a field goal attempt late in the first quarter that would have made the score 7-3. However, Andrew Coxe’s kick clanked off the upright and was ruled no good, leaving the score at 7-0.

Warwick began to pull away in the second quarter, as Gloucester’s offense was able to move the ball between the 20s but struggled to make any hay in the red zone. The middle of the field was wide open much of the day for the Raiders’ pass offense, as multiple dual-threat Warwick quarterbacks escaped pressure to find their receivers. At halftime, the score was 21-0 and it was looking like Warwick would run away with a victory.
