Dukes fall to Grafton 12-6 in baseball

Gloucester baseball players fell by a 12-6 margin to Grafton on the Bay River District team’s home field on Friday. Adam Baldwin scored in the first inning with a stolen base, a fielder’s choice and an error by the Clippers’ catcher before Grafton took over.

In the bottom of the first, Grafton took advantage of several wild pitches from Tyler Wood and scored three runs, but Brian Belvin responded for the Dukes with a solo home run to close the gap to 3-2. Walks and mental mistakes by Gloucester led to two runs for the Clippers in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Kenny Parks was able to round the bases for the Dukes in the bottom of the fifth before Grafton returned to the plate and scored five runs in the sixth to make it 12-3. Michael Clements, Ethan Sabo and Baldwin scored the last three runs of the game, with a double play and a strikeout stranding Jacob Houston on third.
