The Gloucester High School varsity baseball team lost a pair of back-to-back games against Hampton, but defeated Smithfield and Denbigh this past week.
The Dukes fell to the Hampton Crabbers, 6-2, on the road March 25. Gloucester recorded six hits and no errors, while Hampton had eight hits and two errors.
Brayden Scott pitched for the Dukes. Hayden Simmons had two hits for four at-bats, achieving a double in the process. Hank Hardaway had two hits for three at-bats and recorded an RBI.
The Dukes hosted Hampton last Thursday and fell to the Crabbers, 9-4. Gloucester had seven hits and four errors, while Hampton recorded 14 hits and no errors.
Grayson Shield pitched for the Dukes. Jesse Jackson had two hits for three at-bats and recorded two RBIs. Hardaway recorded two hits for four at-bats and achieved two RBIs.
Smithfield
During Monday’s home game against Smithfield, the Dukes defeated the Packers, 3-2. Gloucester had three hits and two errors, while Smithfield recorded four hits and two errors.
Scott pitched the winning game for the Dukes. Hardaway had two hits for three at-bats and recorded two RBIs.
Denbigh
The Dukes trav-eled to defeat the Denbigh Patriots, 5-4, Tuesday afternoon. No statistics were available at press time. Gloucester will host Denbigh this afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
