Dukes come from behind, beat Granby 27-25

The Gloucester High School Dukes evened their record at 1-1 with a 27-25 win over visiting Granby on Friday. Gloucester dominated early play and held a 21-7 advantage before the Comets rallied to make it 21-19 at the half. Another Granby goal in the third quarter put the visitors ahead, 25-21, but the Dukes scored in the closing minutes to get the win.

Running back Ryan Harris got things going for Gloucester early, scoring with a 20-yard run. Quarterback Aiden Thompson then completed a 17-yard scoring pass to Jarrell Bennett. Thompson followed up with his own scoring run in the second quarter to make it 21-7.

The Comets responded with two goals late in the first half to get within three points, and in the third they scored to take over the lead. The Gloucester defense managed to shut down the rally and another scoring run by Harris with fewer than 10 minutes remaining gave Gloucester its first victory of the season.
