Dukes close out regular season with loss to Bethel

Gloucester varsity football players may have wrapped up their season on Friday with a 39-16 loss to visiting Bethel. The Dukes may still have a shot at post-season play, but their status is still undetermined.
Gloucester got on the board first Friday with a long pass from quarterback Isaiah Spencer to Rashad Williams for a touchdown. Bethel responded with a TD but missed the point-after to leave the Dukes with a 7-6 first-quarter advantage. 
The Bruins began to pull away in the second quarter with a pair of touchdowns while Gloucester was held to a field goal and the score was 18-10 at the half.
Bethel added two more TDs in the third quarter, including one on the return of a Gloucester fumble, to make it 32-10. Bethel scored again in the fourth and Spencer got the final points of the game on a long run to leave the score at 39-16.
Gloucester closed the regular season at 4-6 overall and 3-6 in the Peninsula District. Final post-season pairings will likely be determined next week.&n...
