Dukes beat Denbigh, go 3-1

Gloucester left its mark on Todd Stadium in Newport News on Saturday with a 45-26 toppling of the Denbigh Patriots.

Gloucester quarterback Isaiah Spencer led the offense, rushing 56 and 13 yards for a pair of touchdowns and throwing for another. Spencer, a junior, had 12 pass completions for 112 yards.

“We got off to a great start and we played very well,” said GHS head coach Brandon Kelley. “We were in control the entire time. The defense played well and did a good job of getting the ball back and the offense put together some good drives. It was a good effort overall by the entire team.”

Gloucester got on the board first with a scoring pass from Spencer to Allah Armstead and the extra point by Tanner Griffith. Griffith had a great afternoon with six extra points and a field goal.
