Duke grapplers sweep Peninsula District foes at quad match

Gloucester High School wrestlers completed their sweep of Peninsula District opponents on Jan. 8 with solid wins over Warwick, Menchville and Hampton in a quad match on the GHS mats. 

 

Pinning their Warwick opponents in a 54-27 win were Gloucester grapplers Anthony Monahan at 113 lbs. in 2:59, Isaac Chaney at 126 lbs. in 5:31, Hunter Owens at 132 lbs. in 5:16, Jordan Albright at 138 lbs. in 40 seconds, Aaron Parr at 145 in 1:28, Ethan Newell at 182 in 2:38, Joey Alvarado at 195 in 6:58 and Nathaniel VanNess at 220 in 1:08.

 

Matt Favazzo at 106, Will Neikirk at 120, Jared Reynolds at 160 and Jerry Woodlief at 285 lost to their Raider opponents, Favazzo and Woodlief by decision, and Neikirk and Reynolds by pin. Gloucester also forfeited at 170. 

 

In the 63-12 win over Menchville, Chaney earned a pin in 43 seconds, Parr in 1:06 and Ransom in 4:49. Woodlief, at 220, won by decision. The Dukes also picked up seven forfeits while giving up one. Reyno...
