Drug use in Mathews topic of two informational programs

The Mathews County Resources Council will present a pair of two-hour informational programs on June 15 and Sept. 21 regarding drug use in the community.

Each meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad Building in Hudgins. Meetings are open to the public.

The June meeting will begin with the 43-minute film, “Heroin, The Hardest Hit.” State and county law enforcement agencies will provide information from their perspective about drug activity in Mathews County and the consequences of drug/opioid involvement, a release said. In addition, community leaders will explain their roles.

At the June meeting, the Rev. Jonathan Davis, a member of the Governor’s Drug Task Force, will provide information on “Addiction and Recovery” week in September to encourage the faith-based community in Mathews to become involved in sharing drug/opioid information with their membership.
