Drake named Gloucester’s park supervisor

Randy Drake of Gloucester is the new park supervisor for operations for the Gloucester Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. 

Drake comes to the county staff from the College of William and Mary’s Department of Kinesiology and Heath Sciences where he was a senior lecturer and instructor for physical education activities and wellness for 27 years. He left the college after it eliminated its activity program.

At W&M, Drake led courses in kayaking, wellness, backpacking, tennis, canoeing, canoe camping, swimming, weight training, racquetball, winter camping, orienteering and adventure games. He was also the director of the school’s challenge course for several years. 

Drake became the park supervisor in mid-May and spends much of his time at Beaverdam Park, although he oversees operations at all seven county parks.
