DR. STEVEN WALLACE YATES

Dr. Steven Wallace Yates, 57, of Hayes, passed away at home on Dec. 26, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Steve was born in Chicago, Ill., on Sept. 5, 1954. He attended Valparaiso University and National College of Chiropractic. In 1978 he moved to Virginia where he founded the Gloucester Chiropractic Center in Gloucester County. Over the 30 years he was in practice, Dr. Yates helped many people find health through chiropractic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Marilou Yates.

He is survived by sons, Russell G. Z. Yates and Phillip W. Z. Yates; wife, Renee Ratliff Yates; brother, Howard Yates; sister, Janis Patrie and husband Peter of Sparks, Nev.; nephews, Todd Patrie, Brent Patrie, Ryan Patrie and their families.

Steve’s wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Inurnment will be private. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
