“Practicing dentistry has given me an awesome opportunity to be a significant part of other people’s lives,” said Dr. Joseph A. Lombard Jr., who has been a dentist in Gloucester County for 40 years.

His style is often to “fly under the radar,” Lombard said, while donating much time through the years to various organizations. One of his most rewarding projects, he said, was to found and chair the Circle of Friends Foundation in 1995, which assists physically and mentally challenged individuals and groups.

In addition, he served three years as president of the local American Cancer Society, was on the Ware Academy Board of Trustees, president of Gloucester High School Athletic Association. He was instrumental in bringing new athletic facilities to that school and was recognized as Gloucester Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year in 1996, Lombard also served as president of the Parish Council at St. Therese Church in Gloucester Court House.
