Doug and Kim Hibbs to serve as parade grand marshals

Doug and Kim Hibbs don’t just own a popular restaurant in Gloucester Court House; they are also devoted to giving back to the community in any way that they can.

That’s why the couple has been chosen to serve as grand marshals of Saturday’s 29th annual Daffodil Festival Parade. The parade with the theme of “Dancing with the Daffodils” begins at 10 a.m. from Main Street Center.

The Hibbs family first came to Gloucester in 1994 after Doug retired from the U.S. Navy and began working as a deputy sheriff with the Henrico County Sheriff’s Department.

They had no idea that they would ever get into the restaurant business, even when their son came home one day in 2009 and said that the Courthouse Restaurant was for sale on Gloucester’s Main Street. Kim said their response was, “So?” But their son said, “I can work in the back and you in the front.”
