DOROTHY ROWE DUDLEY

Dorothy Rowe Dudley, 91, of Hayes, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015.

Dorothy was a Gloucester native, the daughter of Joseph and Pauline Hogge Rowe. She was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher, served on the Hospitality Committee, and was a member of the Woman’s Missionary Group.

She was a wonderful cook, known especially for her crab dishes, and a very talented seamstress. Dorothy enjoyed working in her yard, doing word puzzles and going to the wellness center which attributed to her long life. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and good humor, will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Dudley.

She is survived by her daughters, Paulette Aycock (Glen), Brenda Hilton (Jeff) and Barbara Page (Dickie); grandchildren, Kim Stefanick (Jay), Chris Aycock (Becky), Chris Hilton, Allan Hilton and Austin Page (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Braeden, Bailey, Alexis, Emma, Connor and Mackenzie, and extended family and close friends.

The family received friends Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.

Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Tom Cohick and the Rev. Bill West will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at Providence Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
