Dorothy Lee Hansford Smith, 71, of Hayes, passed away in the presence of family members on Oct. 11, 2017 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.

Originally from Seaford, she lived in Gloucester for the past 32 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edna Hansford; sister, Joanna, and brother, Joseph (Tommy). 

She is survived by her brothers, Donald of Atlanta, Georgia, and Douglas of Seaford; sons, Allen J. Smith, Andrew W. Smith, David, Daniel and Lee Barlow; beloved granddaughters, Chelsea A. Smith, Trinity F. Smith, and Addilynne M. Smith.

The family wishes to extend appreciation and gratitude to the nurses and care staff of Riverside Health System, Riverside Radiation & Medical Oncology, and Abingdon Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
