Dorothy H. Hudgins, 88, of Hudgins, Virginia, passed away on May 9, 2016.

She was a Home Economics teacher in Mathews, Virginia Beach and spent most of her time in Chantilly in Northern Virginia. She retired back to Mathews in 1978. She became very active in the Woman’s Club and was president at least twice. She enjoyed Bridge and played Bridge up until December of this past year. She was remembered very fondly for bringing food to people. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hudgins; her parents, Ruby and Lawrence Horsley; three of her sisters, and her niece, Kelly Burke. 

She is survived by her sister, Janice Whitt; her nieces, Suellen Burke, Lynn Edmondson (Ted), Anita Westcott (Paul), Sandra Durr (Fred), Kathy Hastings (Mark) and Kim McKone (Mark); nephews, Marc Whitt, Jonathan Whitt (Michele) and Brad Whitt; many great-nieces and -nephews and two great-great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Horn Harbor Cemetery, Port Haywood, Virginia.
