Dorothy Davis Grenfell, 81, of Gloucester, died April 12, 2013 in Port Charlotte, Fla.

She was born Aug. 7, 1931 in Axton, Va., to the late J. Early and Mary West Davis. Mrs. Grenfell was retired from the federal government.

She loved to fish, grow orchids, garden and watch her birds. Mrs. Grenfell was a loving and generous person.

She was preceded in death by brothers, John West Davis and Robert Winfree Davis; and husband, Milton Richard Grenfell.

She is survived by son, George Coyle (Tanya) of Mathias, W.Va.; daughters, Mary Coyle (Andy Fox) of Santa Cruz, Cal., and Dorothy Pappas (John) of Strasburg, Va.; grandchildren, Jesse Barlass, Matthew Barlass, Amber Church and Sardana Coyle; great-granddaughter, Jayden Barlass; sister, Mary Marnix; brothers, Jim Davis and Raymond Davis; and two nieces, Mary Jo Pulliam and Christy Van Varick.

A graveside memorial service conducted by the Rev. W. Donald Ambrose will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton. Following the service the family will receive friends at the home of Jim Davis.
