Dorothy Bachner, age 95, of Gloucester, Va., formerly of Green Tree, Pa., died on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015.

Beloved wife of the late Sylvester J. Bachner; dear mother of Gerald Bachner, Gemma (Kevin) Abraham, Katherine (Patrick) Manion, Joseph Bachner, Sylvia (Douglas) Diamond, Ruth (Brian) Clements and the late James Bachner; daughter of the late Jerimiah and Kathryn (Doyle) McDonald; sister of the late Geraldine McDonough; also 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. She and her late husband, Sylvester, moved to Gloucester in 1980, where they were active members of St. Therese Catholic Church. Dorothy led a faithful life of serving others through volunteer work with The Theresians, Gloucester Meals on Wheels and The Daffodil Gift Shop at Walter Reed Hospital.

Friends were welcomed on Thursday, Nov. 12, 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the William Slater II Funeral Service, Inc., 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., Pa. 15220 (412-563-2800). Mass of Christian Burial followed at St. Margaret of Scotland Church at 11 o’clock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the veterans.
