Doris S. Brown, 83, of Hayes, passed away July 9, 2017 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Doris was born Aug. 10, 1933 to the late William M. and Helen L. Cutler in Washington, North Carolina. She had lived many years in Gloucester.

Doris’s greatest attribute was her loving kindness towards everyone. Doris was known as Maw to the neighborhood kids. Some other favorite names she loved to be called were Nanny, Big Nanny, Ne-naw, Momma-Nanny, and lastly Pop-Pop, by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Doris is survived by her children, Gail Brunjes (Bob), Patty Green (Richard), Calvin French, Shaun Simmons (Shirley), Shari Carter, Michelle Ailstock (Joe) and Murrell Patrick (Robin); 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial service conducted by her grandson, Minister Robbie Brunjes, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Gloucester Church of Christ, 2432 Hayes Road, Hayes.
