DONNIE ANN MORGAN

Donnie Ann Morgan, 58, of Mathews, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016.

She was born in Moon, Virginia, and was valedictorian of Mathews High School class of 1976. She graduated magna cum laude from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, and received her Master of Arts in Education & Human Development in College Student Development from George Washington University.

After serving as Dean of Students for Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, Donnie and her husband Mike enjoyed managing hostels for Hostelling International including in Buffalo, Tibbetts Point Lighthouse, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. The Martha’s Vineyard hostel was voted the 2011 “HI Friendliest Hostel” in the world. Most recently she served as Director of Operations for Hostelling International Northeast Regional Seasonal Hostels.

Donnie was predeceased by her father, Donald Banks Morgan. Her mother, Georgia Ann Morgan, passed one day after her beloved daughter.

She is survived by her loving husband, C. Michael Gambone of Moon; son, Tony Gambone (Emily) of Richmond, Virginia, and five grandchildren.

She will be missed by her brothers, Christopher Morgan (Kathleen) of Toano, Virginia, and Steven Morgan (Doreen) of Roswell, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Philip, Rachel, Vivian, Gabriel, and Ezabella, and her uncle, William M. Gooch of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 3 for a visitation at noon at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, 160 Main Street, Mathews, 23109, followed by a 1 p.m. celebration of life service for both Donnie and her mother Georgia. Shortly after, family and friends are invited to Salem United Methodist Church, Diggs, for a reception.
