Donna Gail Deal Minter, age 60, of Mathews County, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026. She was born on September 7, 1965 in Gloucester, Virginia.
Donna made her home in Mathews County with her beloved husband, Alan Minter, where together they raised their two daughters and built a life centered on love, family, and hard work. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Alan Minter; her parents, Paul and Betty Deal; her brother, Keith Deal, and her parents-in-law, Leonard and Barbara Minter.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nikki (Will) and Heather (Nate); her cherished grandchildren, Kaydence (Aiden), Jayden, Nichol, Allana, and Nate Junior; great-grandson, Oliver; her sisters, Anita (Keith) and Paula; her brothers, Mike (Brenda), Dan (Jennifer), and Don; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Donna dedicated 31 years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for others with extraordinary compassion and kindness. Her commitment to her patients earned her the prestigious BEE Award, recognizing her as an exceptional CNA whose kindness and dedication made a lasting difference in countless lives.
Outside of work, Donna found joy in tending her flower gardens, creating arts and crafts, spending time at the beach, and, most of all, being surrounded by her family. She especially loved hummingbirds and delighted in watching them gather outside her home, a simple joy that reflected her gentle and peaceful spirit.
Donna faced life’s greatest challenges with remarkable courage. She was a cancer survivor and a heart attack survivor whose strength and determination inspired everyone who knew her. Through every hardship, she continued to put others before herself, offering love, comfort, and unwavering support.
Those who knew Donna will remember her for her generous heart, gentle nature, and endless compassion. She believed that no one should ever be too busy to be there for the people they love and that kindness is one of the greatest gifts we can give in a world that often needs it most.
Her love, strength, and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
On Friday, July 31, 2026, at Hogg Funeral Home, the family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. Kristie Askew. The interment will immediately follow at Pear Tree Cemetery, Mathews. Family and friends are invited to join the family afterward for a meal and fellowship at Bethel Church of Mathews, 1459 Garden Creek Road, Mathews, Va., United States, 23109.
