DONALD MONGOLD

Donald Louis Mongold, age 73, of Gloucester, entered eternal rest on Jan. 4, 2021. He was known as, “Don,” and worked for over 30 years as a civil servant at National Park Service Yorktown, Cheatham Annex, and NOB Norfolk. Don was a kind man; he never met a stranger. A few activities he enjoyed were cruising, camping, vacationing with friends, and attending Gloucester Point Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Otis Mongold; brother, Charles Mongold, and granddaughters, Makeala and McKenzie Trueblood. His survivors are his wife of 49 years, Gail Nixon Mongold; daughters, Tina Hupp (Trever), Susan Mongold, Anne Trueblood (Billy); grandchildren, Marissa Bryner, Ryan Bryner, Seth Wells, Jordan Trueblood, William Trueblood; brothers, Nelson Mongold, Wayne Mongold (Sandy), Dwight Mongold (Debbie); sisters, Pat Corbin (Larry), Millie Mongold, and Sharon Strawderman. The family received friends on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, from 4-5 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks were required for entry and social distancing was mandatory. A graveside service conducted by Pastor Bud Goude will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
