Donald Lee Boles passed away peacefully July 18, 2021 at home in Gloucester Point, Virginia. He was born Feb. 11, 1934 at Station Hospital, Fort Monroe, Virginia, to the late Carsie Lee and Irene Thelma Boles.
Donnie graduated from “The Real” Hampton High School, Class of 1952, and worked for the C & P Telephone Co. of Virginia, retiring from Bell Atlantic with 37 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Army for 2 years in Fort Gordon, Ga., with the Military Police.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Society Military Order of the Stars and Bars. He was a member of the Seaford Yacht Club where he was a past commodore, and a member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed sailing with Barbara on their boat “Cheers” all over the Chesapeake Bay, training and bird-hunting with his dogs, birthdays and holidays with family, traveling with Barbara and also genealogy of family history.
Donnie was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life, Barbara Price Boles. He is survived by his sons, Keith Boles (Mary) and David Boles; his brother-in-law, John Price; his dog, “Abby” and cat, “Kitty.”
The family received friends from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday with interment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. www.rhaydensmith.com.
