DON O’RAY HURT

Don O’Ray Hurt, 78, of Hayes, died Dec. 29, 2018 at Hospice House of Williamsburg.

Don served his country in the United States Army. He was a retired welder of the Newport News Shipbuilding after 35 years. Don was a former member of Boulevard Baptist Church and a Deacon. He loved to create with wood and did many hand pieces for family and friends. He was loving and devoted to his family and especially his grandchildren. His memory will live in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marlene Hurt; children, Robin Skarvan (Todd), Randy Hurt (Patricia), and Rebecca Sweeney (Curtis); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Allen and Etta Fay Gilb (Ed); brothers, Freddie Hurt (Galen) and Ronald Hurt (Janice), and canine friend, Isabella.

A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Chris McMillan will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment with military honors will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, beginning at noon on Thursday.
