Dominion Power constructing new substation at White Marsh

Dominion Virginia Power began construction entrance work last week that will eventually lead to a new substation at White Marsh that will serve a 115-kilowatt transmission line and help improve electrical service in Gloucester County, corporate spokesperson Daisy Pridgen said last Thursday.

 This week, crews were scheduled to strip topsoil at the site.

All of the road extension and site work will be completed in the summer/fall 2016 time frame, Pridgen said.

“We will start pouring concrete for the substation foundation in early 2017,” she said, with the substation slated for completion in mid-May of next year.

Pridgen said the substation will be a valuable addition for handling operating load and to provide for future growth of electrical service in Gloucester.
