Domestic-related shooting Tuesday in Hayes

Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a residence in the 2300 block of Perrin Creek Road in Hayes shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a domestic-related shooting, according to Lt. Michael P. Rice of the GCSO.

Upon arrival, deputies located one victim with serious injuries. A male victim was transported to the hospital for emergency medical treatment and remained under medical care as of Wednesday morning. A suspect was detained and Rice reported that there was no subsequent threat to the community.

The suspect, a 65-year-old man from Hayes, was arrested and charged with felony counts of aggravaed malicious wounding, attempted second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharge a firearm within or at an occupied dwelling.

The case remains an active investigation, Rice stated.
