‘DogiPot’ stations set up at Mathews sites

The Tidewater Soil and Water Conservation District recently provided Mathews County with two ‘DogiPot’ pet waste disposal stations—one at Haven Beach and the other at Port Fun.

A TS&WCD bulletin said that animal waste can contain harmful bacteria and viruses that affect water quality and safety. To assist visitors to these sites in Mathews, the stations store bags for pet owners to clean up behind their companions and help everyone enjoy the natural sites.

Grant funding for the stations was from the Chesapeake Bay Program, York River and Small Coastal Basin Roundtable, and the state Department of Conservation and Recreation.
