Dog groomer opens Gloucester C.H. shop

Dutton resident Tracey Royals, owner of Top Dog Pet Grooming for nearly 20 years, recently opened a shop in Gloucester Court House. Having operated from her home while offering a mobile service, Royals is excited that her new location will be helpful to her many customers that live in Gloucester.

The new location is located behind the Harry Morris building on Main Street next to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.

According to Royals, she has been providing high quality, caring and compassionate grooming for 40 years, previously working in Florida before she moved back home to Virginia.

Currently, Royals will be at the Gloucester location Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. She said she accepts pet drop-offs in Gloucester between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. And on Sunday, she accepts appointments from noon until 6 p.m.

She still works out of her Dutton home Tuesdays and Thursdays and travels to various customers on Mondays and Fridays.

Royals is in the process of getting certified by the American Kennel Club as a Safe Salon. This certification, she said, ensures all groomers under it provide consistent, clean tubs, cages, etc. She is a certified groomer already, she said.

Other services that she provides include tooth brushing; paw, pad and nail care and a “Kiss my Face” package, which includes eye care, face care and ear trims. She serves all dogs and cats and provides a discount for multiple dogs. She also offers handmade bandanas, collars and coats for pets.

Royals said current rabies, bordetella and canine distemper vaccinations are required before bringing the pet in for grooming.
