Dobrila Nikolic Owen, age 84, of Gloucester, died on Monday, August 17, 2026. Dobrila was born on June 26, 1942 to the late Dobrivoje and Milenija Nikolic in Serbia. She was an amazing cook and prolific needlepoint artist. She was very active with the USO, especially during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Germany, for which she received numerous awards. As a U.S. Army wife of 30+ years, she always cared for junior soldiers and had them for holiday dinners as a thank you for defending our country and ensuring the freedom that she and her family could finally enjoy. Dobrila was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, MSGT Raymond Patrick Owen, U.S. Army, retired. She is survived by her son, Marijan Bacic; her daughter, Natasha Henderson; granddaughter, Dominique Henderson; nephews, Daniel Nikolic and Aid Salijevic, and sister, Zorica, with family in Serbia. A graveside service will be held at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11 a.m.
