DMV marks 10th anniversary of partnership with Mathews County

Richard Holcomb, commissioner of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, visited Mathews on April 2 to participate in a ceremony celebrating the 10th anniversary of the county’s DMV Select service. There was also a ribbon cutting to highlight the partnership between Mathews DMV Select and DMV’s mobile customer service center, DMV 2 Go.

Holcomb pointed out that, while DMV Select can handle such vehicle transactions as titles, registrations, license plates and transcripts for local residents, it doesn’t offer driver transactions such as driver’s licenses, ID cards or vision screenings, so DMV 2 Go comes to Mathews every other month to fill those needs. The only thing that isn’t currently offered, said Holcomb, is the road test.

In addition to offering DMV services, Holcomb said that Mathews DMV Select, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, sells hunting and fishing licenses.
