Distefano no-hits Denbigh; GHS 7-0 in PD

Taylor Distefano pitched a no-hitter to raise her record to 3-0 and the offense slugged four home runs as Gloucester defeated visiting Denbigh, 11-0, last Thursday. The win marked the fourth consecutive shutout for the Dukes and improved them to 7-0 in the Peninsula District.

Makayla Jenkins hit a pair of solo home runs and a double to lead Gloucester’s 11-hit attack. Hannah Joyce led the game off with a home run on the first pitch and singled in three trips to the plate. Rhiannon Miller had four RBIs on the day, including three on a third-inning home run. Shelby Alto contributed three hits and Gabby Zarichny chipped in two.
Distefano struck out 11 of 15 batters and went to a three ball count twice. The senior right hander did not allow a ball out of the infield. The Dukes return to action Monday against Lafayette at the Williamsburg Recreation Center. They resume district play at Phoebus on Tuesday.
